Hunter's Lane Haunting

The History

Hunter's Lane is a very small, suburban avenue in Ansonia, well off the beaten path.  The curious inverted "L" shape of the road lends a bit of a mysterious overall feel to the place.  The story goes that a large house upon this lane is haunted with ghosts which appear at intervals, especially when people within the home argue and fight.  From the ever-trusted Shadowlands is the following:

"Ansonia - Hunters Lane - Only when two of the residents in
the house fight the ghost will show her rage.  Only a small cat
was in the room at the time.  A whole dresser fell down onto
the bed with on it a television and inside it lots of clothes.
Another, which the treadmill turned on by in self.  She is older
and a white lady.  Very nice, but gets angry when people fight."

The Missing Event

GHOST members arrived at Hunter's Lane in Ansonia and drove up the hill toward the end where it turned right and continued another 200 feet, ending at a newly constructed cul-de-sac.  There was no curb encircling the cul-de-sac and the houses along the arm of the "L" were all newer construction.  At the "L" junction, however, there was one older looking house and we paused briefly to speak with a couple, Mike and Michelle, who were working outside the home.  Mike, whose family has owned this home for three generations, appeared quite perplexed when we mentioned the alleged haunting.  In fact, it was not until his wife's eyes opened in sudden recognition of having read about the haunting online at Shadowlands that he finally acknowledged reading about it.

He, himself, grew up in this house and he claimed never to have heard, nor seen, anything strange on this street.  The street is small and there aren't many homes there and one would believe that a story of this magnitude would be something of a local legend; yet here was a long-time resident of the lane who had never heard such a story.  He claimed that his mother had also lived in the house a very long time and that she had never mentioned this so-called haunting.  Michelle, while seriously interested in the subject, admitted that she had never heard anything about a haunting, outside of having read it on Shadowlands.  Mike is going to be following up with us regarding this story.  He will be speaking with his mother about the story to see if she can recall anything.

Conclusion

Knowing what we now know of the Shadowlands, Haunted Connecticut and other affiliated websites which repost ad nauseum these many stories of hauntings and ghosts, we suspect that this is yet another one of Shadowlands' slip-ups.  Not checking sources is becoming a real problem for their credibility in our opinion.  It appears that the very poorly written account listed on these sites are nothing more than keyboard fantasy created by someone interested in putting Hunter's Lane in Ansonia on the map.
